Bckground of Surovi


In Bangla, SUROVI means Fragrance. It is the nectar of a long cherished dream and desire of the philanthropist lady Syeda Iqbal Mand Banu, an eminent Social Worker of Bangladesh. Her deep love and understanding of the hardship and sufferings of the neglected and underprivileged children of Bangladesh led her to establish SUROVI on 1st February 1979. She founded SUROVI with a view to ensure education, skill training and basic needs of the destitute children and adolescents to prepare them as human resources so that they could be able to establish themselves and contribute to the society. Her dream reflected through established SUROVI and firm commitment to up-lift the deprived children which compliance to the objective of the United Nation declaration of the rights for the children. The distinctiveness of SUROVI has been working like a real friend of destitute children and women. As a voluntary non-government organization SUROVI started its journey with a single vulnerable domestic worker named 'Shanu'. Now it is possible to expand our wings and able to raise our helping hand for 55000 children and 10,000 women in different areas of our country.
